NAXA's unprecedented achievement: EFSA updates regulation to recognize Astaxanthin safe for children

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

Following a suggestion by NAXA (Natural Algae Astaxanthin Association) to the EFSA EU Commission last year to reconsider the recommendation of safety regarding the consumption of Novel Food Astaxanthin-Rich Oil, this product is now no longer required to advise children and teenagers under the age of 14 not to consume it.

This is an unprecedented breakthrough in Astaxanthin regulations, and we are proud to be members of NAXA, the organization that launched this initiative to modify the regulation. We are thrilled to see Astaxanthin properly recognized for children aged 3 to 10 and adolescents younger than 14 years old.

NAXA’s efforts, with the support of Atacama Bio’s team, have been fruitful, and we look forward to making even greater progress in the foreseeable future.
